The time has finally come. The first major Apple TV+ movie – "The Banker" – is finally set for release. The release date has been set for March.
Apple has Variety about the next big title “The Banker.” The film was supposed to originally at the AFI Festival It was supposed to premiere in December and then be shown in theaters. However, this never happened. The postponement was due to allegations of possible sexual abuse. Apple investigated the matter and has now decided to release the film. Accordingly, "The Banker" will debut in theaters on March 6, 2020, and be available on Apple TV+ on March 20. Apple explained to Variety:
We created Apple TV Plus as a home for stories that matter and believe “The Banker,” inspired by the courageous actions of Bernard Garrett Sr. and Joe Morris, two African-American businessmen who brought about positive social change, is one of those stories.
We wanted to take the time to understand the situation – and after reviewing the information available to us, including documentation of the filmmakers' research, we decided to make this important and insightful film available to viewers.
"The Banker" is based on the true story of Bernard Garrett Sr. and Joe Morris, who developed a plan in the 1960s to facilitate access to real estate and bank loans for African Americans.
