Apple today released the first beta version of macOS 11.0.1 to developers Big Sur made available for testing purposes. The new beta version replaces the existing macOS 11 Big Sur Beta 10 update, which was released two weeks ago.

Somewhat surprisingly, Apple has released a brand new version of macOS Big Sur. Registered developers can access macOS 11.0.1 Big Sur. It is unclear why Apple changed the version number. However, the company has taken such a step before. There are many small animations that make macOS Big Sur so special.

The light transmission has been significantly improved and the application icons in the dock now resemble their iOS counterparts. The Control Center is also coming to the desktop for the first time. It offers quick access to brightness and volume, for example. The notification center has also been adapted to that of iOS and now has the same skills - such as grouping messages. The widget system introduced in iOS 14 will also be available in macOS 11 Big Sur. Both iMessage and the Maps app have been updated as part of this.

When will macOS 11 Big Sur be released for all users?

Mac Catalyst will receive new features, including native screen scaling and updated controls. This should help Mac Catalyst applications to fit better into the platform. But many users are wondering when Apple will release the final Version of macOS Big Sur for all users. Of course, no one can answer this question with certainty. However, there are indications that Apple wants to hold another event on November 17th. The first Apple Silicon Mac is to be presented there. Accordingly, macOS Big Sur could receive a final release date at this event. This means that it is currently assumed that Apple will release the Mac operating system at the end of November.
