Apple has announced in a press release that the update of Apple Maps in the USA is now complete. Europe is next.

According to the company, the new design of Apple Maps is intended to enable faster and more accurate navigation. The level of detail has also been improved as part of the update. press release:

Apple today announced that all users in the United States can now experience a redesigned map with faster, more accurate navigation and comprehensive views of streets, buildings, parks, airports, shopping malls and more, making planning any trip easier and more enjoyable. Apple has completed the rollout of this new map in the United States and will begin rolling it out across Europe in the coming months.

The update to Apple Maps was actually completed last month, but Apple only officially confirmed it today. Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, said:

No registration necessary

We set out to build the best, most private maps app on the planet that reflects how people explore the world today. We've worked hard and are rebuilding Maps from the ground up to reimagine how Maps enriches people's lives — from navigating to work or school or planning an important vacation — all with privacy at its core. Completing the new map in the United States and delivering new features like Look Around and Collections are important steps toward achieving that vision. We look forward to bringing this new map to the rest of the world, starting with Europe later this year.

In addition to the new design and the added details, Apple Maps offers other useful functions. Data protection plays a major role here. Apple also explains in the press release that logging in with an Apple ID is not required to use Apple Maps. But that's not all. A user's location is to be concealed on Apple's servers by replacing it with a "less accurate" location after about 24 hours. Tracking the route is therefore not possible. When exactly the update will be released in Europe was not announced in the press release. (Image: Apple)
