Apple Maps now offers more than just navigation. Users in the US can now see ratings and awards from recognized expert sources such as the MICHELIN Guide, The Infatuation, and Golf Digest directly within the app. This makes the app a practical tool for anyone specifically looking for high-quality restaurants, hotels, or golf courses.

Previously, those searching for locations in Apple Maps primarily saw user reviews, address information, and images. With the latest update, Apple is breaking new ground. The app integrates content that was previously only available on specialized platforms. You'll see verified information from industry experts directly while searching and planning – without any additional research.

MICHELIN Guide: Stars, Green Stars and Bib Gourmand in Apple Maps

The integration begins with the MICHELIN Guide. In the US, you can now search for restaurants awarded a MICHELIN Star, a Green Star, or a Bib Gourmand. Hotels with a MICHELIN Key award are also included. This means that when you search for restaurants or hotels in Apple Maps, you'll see whether a location has been recommended by the MICHELIN Guide. In addition, descriptions, awards, and images directly from the MICHELIN Guide also appear in the location details. This information doesn't replace user opinions, but rather supplements them with professional assessments.

Bookings possible directly in Apple Maps

Some hotels listed on Apple Maps can be booked directly through the app. This will soon also be possible for restaurant reservations via the MICHELIN Guide and golf tee times via Supreme Golf. The goal is to allow you to not only find recommendations, but also implement them directly – without having to switch between apps.

Further expert sources follow: The Infatuation and Golf Digest

In addition to the MICHELIN Guide, content from The Infatuation and Golf Digest will soon be added. The Infatuation offers curated restaurant recommendations with an editorial approach. Golf Digest specializes in golf course reviews and provides rankings based on decades of expertise. Both sources will soon be integrated into Apple Maps. Here, too, the information will appear directly on the maps and be searchable using filters.

Search filters help with targeted selection

The update also expanded the search filters in Apple Maps. You can now search specifically for places with certain awards, such as MICHELIN-starred restaurants or hotels with a MICHELIN Key award. This makes planning easier—whether it's for a night out in your own city or a trip to a new region.

Apple plans to expand to other countries

The update is currently limited to the US. According to Apple, other countries will soon have access to the new content. While no details have been announced, one thing is clear: the feature is a long-term development and will be rolled out globally.

Apple Maps becomes an information platform for quality-conscious users

Apple Maps is evolving from a navigation service into a comprehensive information platform. You not only get directions, but also well-founded recommendations from experts – right where you need them. For users, this means less planning effort and more confidence in their choices. Whether it's a restaurant, hotel, or golf course – you can see at a glance whether a location has been professionally reviewed and why. With the option to book directly, Apple Maps also becomes a practical interface between inspiration and implementation. (Image: Shutterstock / Simikov)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
