Apple is expanding its presence in Germany – specifically in Munich. Cupertino is now said to have rented another 30,000 square meters of office space.

Tim Cook's last Wies'n (international Oktoberfest) visit seems to have paid off. According to a report by Süddeutsche Zeitung According to reports, Apple has now rented around 30,000 square meters of office space in Munich. The office building is currently under construction - completion is planned for 2021. According to the report, around 1,500 employees will work there. The complex is located on the former Mahag site on Karlstrasse and is to be named "Karl". The owners have already confirmed the deal, according to which the entire area has already been rented to a customer - but they did not mention a name. The Süddeutsche Zeitung claims to have received the information from experts on the Munich real estate market. Apple currently operates the "Bavarian Design Center" in Munich, which employs around 300 engineers from 40 countries.

Not only Apple likes Munich

It remains unclear for the time being whether this will be integrated into the "Karl" complex or whether it will continue to be kept separate. Apple itself does not usually comment on such reports. But 60 new job advertisements in the areas of research and development speak for themselves. Incidentally, Apple is not the only tech giant that likes the Bavarian capital. Google also wants to expand. The search engine giant plans to build 41,000 square meters of office space and increase its workforce to around 1,500 employees. In addition to Apple and Google, Microsoft and Amazon also have their German headquarters in Munich. (Photo by alexraths / Bigstockphoto)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
