What was a joke in the first half of the year is now partly a reality – iMask. Apple has designed and manufactured customized face masks for employees.
The Cupertino-based company has developed the so-called "Apple Face Mask," which uses three layers of material to filter particles, reports Bloomberg. It has also developed a so-called "Apple ClearMask," which is the first completely transparent surgical mask approved by the FDA. Thanks to the transparent mask, Apple employees can still communicate with people who are deaf or hard of hearing – keyword: lip reading. The new masks will be shipped to company employees and Apple's retail stores in the coming weeks and will replace the standard N95 masks. In April, at the beginning of the global COVID-19 pandemic, Apple designed protective face masks that were shipped in large quantities to hospitals and other facilities.
