On Saturday we talked about reportedthat Apple has launched an early access program for Apple Arcade. The company has so far remained silent about the monthly price - but it is now said to be known.
With Apple Arcade, users get access to a selected number of games in the AppStore - a monthly subscription is required for this. Initially, the library will contain around 100 games - participating developers include Sega, Devolver, Disney and more. Whether iPhone, iPad, Mac or Apple TV - participating games will not have any advertising or in-app purchases. The game statuses are saved in the iCloud and synchronized with other devices - a seamless transition is thus guaranteed.
Less than expected
But how much will the new service cost? Well-known developer and 9to5mac editor Guilherme Rambo already knows the answer. He managed to filter out details about the upcoming service via an App Store API. According to this, the service will cost around $4.99 a month and include a one-month trial period - family sharing is also included, as promised by Apple. The discovery surprises many fans, as some have previously assumed that Apple will charge at least $9.99 a month for Apple Arcade. However, since this is not an official confirmation from Cupertino but only a code snippet, the whole thing should be taken with a grain of salt.
