Adobe has announced a major update for its Creative Cloud and promised many useful features.
Adobe today announced a major update to Adobe Creative Cloud. The updates include a long list of new features and changes, many of which Adobe stresses are in response to customer feedback. The new features include improvements to image editing in Photoshop and Lightroom, and video editing in Premiere Pro and Adobe Rush. The company highlighted collaboration with others during the press conference announcing the new features. Many of the features revolve around collaboration, such as the ability to see other Lightroom users' images and edits. Many of the new features are available as part of the June Creative Cloud update, while some of the features are coming later—though still this year.
Photoshop
The iPad version of Photoshop will increasingly be able to perform Lightroom-bound edits. This means that users can edit an image in Lightroom and seamlessly bring it into Photoshop for further editing using all of Photoshop's tools. On the desktop, Adobe has refined Photoshop's subject selection algorithms to produce better results for portraits. Sensei's machine learning has been optimized to get hair selection right - a notoriously difficult task. Sensei will also be used with Match Font, a feature for identifying fonts that appear in an image. The desktop version of Photoshop will feature a new Adobe Camera Raw interface that feels more like Lightroom and is more intuitive to use.
Lightroom
In addition to linked editing from Photoshop on the iPad, Lightroom is getting a collaborative editing feature. If users choose to do this, Lightroom creates a before and after sequence in which the progress is combined for sharing with others. The new versions allow photographers to experiment with different options on the same image without duplicating a photo. The new features are available for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android and can be synchronized across all devices. Another long-awaited feature that is available from today includes the ability to add watermarks to images when exporting. This feature is also available on all platforms.
