The 27-inch iMac with nano-texture display will not be available from Apple in the US, UK, Canada, and some other major markets until the end of March, possibly due to more advanced manufacturing processes required for the glass coating.

The 27-inch iMac, introduced in 2020, offers customers a nano-texture glass option that helps reduce reflection by etching the display with a nano-texture at the molecular level. Apple says this coating results in “beautiful image quality that maintains contrast while diffusing light to keep glare to a minimum.” In Apple’s online store In the US, Canada, the UK, and other countries, the model with the nano-texture display will ship in seven to eight weeks, around the end of March. The standard display option with certain memory and storage configurations is expected to ship in two to three weeks.

Will Apple introduce a new 27″ iMac?

Given the anomaly that only the nano-texture display option is significantly behind, it is plausible that Apple and its suppliers are having production issues with the more advanced display coating. Due to the ongoing chip shortage and pandemic-related restrictions, Apple is struggling to keep up with demand for the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros. Anyone interested in the large iMac should still be patient if possible. Apple is currently expected to hold a keynote in March or April, where the iPhone SE 3, iPad Air 5 and more are expected to be unveiled. It is not impossible that Apple will unveil a new 27-inch iMac with an Apple Silicon processor at this event, replacing the Intel device. (Photo by wdnetstudio / Bigstockphoto)
