In 2014, Apple developed the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the first particularly large iPhones to the delight of many fans. However, a fatal problem quickly became apparent with the iPhone 6 Plus – the 5.5″ device was easy to bend.

The issue became known under the name Bentgate. Today, the new iPad Pro 2018 suffers from the same problem. But Apple doesn't want to hear about it. Delivering bent iPad Pro models is "normal". The first reports from various users came about two months ago. Now the number of reports that the new iPad Pro has a small bend after unpacking has risen sharply.

It's not a bug, it's a feature

According to Apple, a slight bend in the casing may occur as a result of the manufacturing process. This is normal and will not cause any problems. The bend will not get worse over time, which is why users can use their iPad Pro without any concerns - according to Apple. Despite this statement, there are now numerous reports documenting observations to the contrary. Apple itself does not consider the bend to be a defect and charges heavily for replacements, as media reports show.

Those affected can of course return the device within the 14-day return period. However, anyone who acts later will have to pay a lot. The cost of an exchange is 49 euros if the device is covered by Apple Care+. Apple records the repair under "accidental damage" - this means that the customer must take responsibility for the manufacturing defect. Customers without Apple Care+ pay a whopping 700.90 euros for an exchange. Many fans are disappointed and angry about Apple's behavior.

It remains to be seen in which direction the whole thing will develop. We have not been able to detect any abnormalities on our devices so far.
