Apple is known for its continuous innovations and regular updates to its products. But things have been surprisingly quiet with the iPad in recent years - the current entry-level iPad is still equipped with the now four-year-old A14 chipset. But according to rumors and leaks, exciting innovations are coming in spring 2025.

It may surprise some that Apple has neglected the entry-level iPad so far. Even the iPad 10 received a rather moderate overhaul and Apple focused instead on its Pro models. Even though the price was reduced from the original €429 to €399 this year, many users are yearning for a real update. The iPad 11 could meet these expectations by offering not only better performance but also improved connectivity and possibly new features of the so-called Apple Intelligence.

Apple Intelligence: More than just a fast processor

The biggest expectation of the iPad 11 is the integration of the so-called Apple Intelligence. But what does that mean in concrete terms? According to current information, the iPad 11 could be equipped with the A17 Pro chip. Although this would not be the latest A18 chip that Apple uses for its current iPhone series, it would be sufficiently powerful for everyday use and less costly to produce. With Apple Intelligence, advanced functions could be possible on the iPad 11 that make everyday life easier and improve the user experience:

  • Notification summaries: Important messages are collected and displayed clearly so that you don't miss anything important.
  • Image Playground and Genmoji: With these creative tools you can edit and design photos and avatars directly on your iPad.
  • The new Siri and ChatGPT: The integration of advanced voice and AI tools could take the digital assistant to a new level and enable natural interaction.

These features could make the iPad 11 the ideal companion for creative tasks and productive work. The Apple Intelligence features are expected to be fully introduced by the release in spring 2025.

Technical upgrades: Faster Wi-Fi and more

The iPad 11 is also expected to bring some innovations in terms of connectivity. It could offer support for WiFi 6E or even WiFi 7 - an improvement over the previous WiFi 6. This means a more stable and faster internet connection for you, ideal for streaming, downloads and online games. Bluetooth is also due an update: Bluetooth 5.3 should not only enable lower latency and faster connections but also consume less energy. These improvements will be particularly noticeable if you use wireless headphones or speakers with your iPad.

New accessories: Magic Keyboard and Apple Pencil Pro

Apple is reportedly planning a new, cheaper version of the Magic Keyboard for the iPad 11. Unlike the folio keyboard currently used on the iPad 10, the new keyboard could have a more traditional layout that is better suited for productive work. There is also speculation that the iPad 11 could support the Apple Pencil Pro. Although no concrete information is available, everything indicates that Apple will revise the magnet placement and add compatibility for the Apple Pencil Pro. This would be especially interesting for artists and designers who use the iPad for drawing and creative work.

Price-performance question: What remains and what could change

Although Apple is known for its high quality, the iPad 11 will also have to remain in an affordable price range. This means that the iPad 11 should represent a real leap in performance compared to its predecessors and be available at an attractive price-performance ratio.

The release date and why you should wait for the iPad 11

According to well-known Apple analyst Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the iPad 11 will be released in spring 2025. Apple reportedly plans to launch the new model alongside other devices like the iPhone SE and iPad Air. So, the wait seems worth it, especially if you've been hoping for an affordable but powerful iPad. If the leaks are correct, the iPad 11 will retain the design of its predecessor, but offer increased speed and many new features. This could make it an ideal choice for beginners, students, and creative minds. Thanks to Apple Intelligence and improved connectivity, the iPad 11 will be a reliable everyday companion, offering innovative features and intuitive operation. Looking for new accessories?
