Apple officially confirmed the WWDC 2021 schedule yesterday, stating that the week will begin with a special event keynote on June 7th.

Now leaker Jon Prosser has spoken out and claimedthat new MacBook Pro models will be introduced during WWDC. Bloomberg previously denied rumors that the devices could be delayed and claimed that Apple will introduce brand new MacBook Pro models this summer. Prosser reacted to the WWDC 2021 artwork published by Apple. The image shows three Memojis with MacBook devices. This is to be understood as a reference to a new generation. Whether that will ultimately be the case remains to be seen, of course.

New MacBook Pro to receive significantly more ports

Apple's next MacBook Pro update is expected to bring a new design, Apple Silicon inside, and perhaps improved mini-LED display technology. The new design is expected to be flatter overall, similar to the iPad Pro, and will reportedly come in 14- and 16-inch display sizes. The "MacBook Pro" logo below the display is also rumored to be removed, while ports like HDMI and MagSafe are expected to return alongside an SD card slot. The Apple Silicon chip will likely be something similar to the "M1X" or even the "M2." Bloomberg reports that it will have a 10-core design with eight high-performance cores and two efficiency cores. Apple will offer two variants of the chip, one with 16 GPU cores and another with 32 GPU cores.

WWDC 2021: Keynote will take place on June 7th

While WWDC is typically a software-focused event, hardware announcements are not uncommon. Last year, at WWDC 2020, Apple did not announce any new hardware. But at WWDC 2019, Apple unveiled the Mac Pro and the accompanying Pro Display XDR. In general, Apple keeps product unveilings at WWDC limited to those aimed at developers. WWDC begins on Monday, June 7, with an Apple keynote at 7 p.m. in this country. WWDC 2021 will be completely virtual this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so the keynote will be streamed directly from Apple Park. (Photo by hadrian / Bigstockphoto)
