There have been reports for months that Apple plans to introduce its first miniLED devices next year. Now there are new details.

The Taiwanese news site DigiTimes has once again reported on upcoming MiniLED devices and highlighted some partners from Apple's supply chain. According to the report, Apple will introduce a brand new iPad Pro with the new display technology in the first quarter of 2021, while new MacBook Pro models will go into mass production in the second quarter of 2021. is called it in the article:

Apple's suppliers in Taiwan, including LED chip maker Epistar, testing and sorting specialist FitTech, SMT service provider Taiwan Surface Mounting Technology, backlight board supplier Zhen Ding Technology, cooling solutions provider Auras Technology and process equipment maker All Ring Technology, are all poised to receive growth momentum from upcoming shipments of Apple's miniLED backlight devices, the sources said.

The sources continued that Foxconn Technology and Compal Electronics will share assembly orders for MiniLED iPad Pro units. MacBook Pro products with M1 chipsets will be produced mainly by Quanta Computer and partly by Foxconn.

MacBook Pro in a new design?

The biggest beneficiary, however, is expected to be chip manufacturer TSMC, as all new MiniLED devices will have a 5nm processor. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has already stated in advance that mass production of corresponding iPad Pro screens will start at the end of 2020. For this reason, a market launch in early 2021 does not seem to be completely out of the question. As for the new MacBook Pro devices, rumors say that they will be released with a screen diagonal of 16.1 and 14.1 inches. In addition, both models are expected to have a new design. MiniLED screens offer impressive performance with a wide color space, high contrast, HDR and more. According to Kuo, these devices will "significantly improve productivity and the entertainment experience." (Image: Apple)
