The upcoming 11-inch iPad Pro will feature the same LED Liquid Retina display as the current model and not the newer MiniLED display technology found in the larger 12.9-inch model, an analyst now claims.
In a tweet confirmed Reliable display analyst Ross Young dismissed previous rumors that the upcoming 11-inch iPad Pro will not feature the newer MiniLED display technology. This means that customers who want the more advanced display will have to resort to the larger 12.9-inch model. Early rumors suggested that Apple would extend the MiniLED display, introduced in April 2021 for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, to the smaller 11-inch device with the next iPad Pro update. The Liquid Retina XDR display in the 12.9-inch iPad Pro brings extreme dynamic range to the iPad Pro, offering a "stunning visual experience" with more lifelike detail and HDR. The 11-inch iPad Pro display is an LED Liquid Retina display, which has many of the same features as the 12.9-inch display but lacks the extreme dynamic range, higher brightness, and darker blacks.
New iPad Pro models expected to be released soon
Young said he expects the upcoming 11- and 12.9-inch iPad Pros to have the same displays as the current generation models. The new iPad Pros are expected to be gradually updated and include a new chip and possibly new charging features. The new models will feature the M2 Apple Silicon chip, which offers better performance compared to the M1 chip in the current models. Renowned Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman has reported that Apple will not hold a virtual event for the new iPad Pros this month.
