A new iMac Pro with MiniLED backlighting and an Apple Silicon chip could be released as early as June 2022, according to a display analyst.
Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants replied to a question about the recent applications for approval, stating that the MiniLED iMac Pro "could launch in June." Young had previously forecast a spring launch for the all-new iMac, but pushed that forecast back to summer. At the time, Young stated that panel shipments would begin in June, but the launch might not occur until August or September. The analyst's recent comments suggest he has received new information that has changed his forecasts.

A June launch could mean the new iMac Pro could be unveiled at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference. In addition to the schedule, Young confirmed rumors that, contrary to some observers' claims, the iMac Pro will feature a MiniLED backlight. Young said his company has heard reports that the device could feature 1,000 zones and more than 4,000 MiniLEDs. In addition to the switch to MiniLED displays, the new iMac Pro will likely feature some sort of M1 or M2 chip and a new design that brings it in line with the current 24-inch iMac.
