Rumors that Apple is developing its own chip for Mac devices are certainly nothing new. He also believes that Apple's processor costs will fall by 40 to 60 percent as a result. In addition, ARM-based processors will significantly increase Apple's competitive advantage with Mac devices - according to the analyst. While he had predicted a market launch of these devices for fall 2020 or spring 2021 at the beginning of the month, he now seems certain.
First Macs with USB4 support expected in 2022
Kuo then goes on to explain that Apple intends to introduce USB4 in 2022. This means that the first Mac devices with the new port should appear in 2022. The exclusive supplier for USB4 could be ASMedia Technology. Although the USB4 port is basically based on the Thunderbolt architecture, it can enable a total bandwidth of 40 Gbps. USB4 therefore combines Thunderbolt and USB protocols. The good thing about it, however, is that USB4 offers significantly more but remains the same in its physical form. This means that users can continue to connect their accessories via a USB-C cable. Since the USB4 specification was announced in September 2019, Apple should have enough time to implement it.
