According to Wedbush analyst Daniel Ives, Apple will unveil the brand new Apple Silicon MacBook Pro in 14- and 16-inch sizes at WWDC, which takes place in less than five days.
In a note to investors, Ives says that in addition to the normally expected announcement of new versions of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS, Apple is planning a few surprises, including the announcement of the new MacBook Pros. The analyst, who has made predictions about event announcements in the past, claims that Apple's M1 silicon chip will power the new MacBook Pros.
New MacBook Pro is completely redesigned
However, it's unlikely that will be the case. The upcoming MacBook Pros, which are already rumored to include some changes like the removal of the Touch Bar, a flatter design, the return of the HDMI port, an SD card slot, and magnetic charging with MagSafe, will likely include a more powerful iteration of the M1 chip, or possibly even the M2. Apple announced the M1 chip in November last year, and since its debut it has been included in various devices, including the small MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and Mac mini, as well as the new 24-inch iMac and iPad Pro. The new MacBook Pros, which reliable Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman believes could be announced as early as early summer this year, will be the highest-end Macs to date with Apple Silicon.
iPhone 13, AR glasses & Apple Car: Analyst confirms earlier reports
Apple officially announced the transition to its own processors at WWDC last year, stating that the transition would last a total of two years. Incidentally, Apple leaker Jon Prosser also believes that the new MacBook Pros, presumably the new 14-inch and 16-inch models, will be unveiled at WWDC. In his announcement today, Ives also reiterated previously reported predictions, including the belief of Wedbushthat the upcoming iPhone 13 lineup will offer 1 TB storage capacity options. The analyst also reiterated his belief that Apple plans to announce its AR glasses, dubbed "Apple Glasses," at WWDC in 2022, followed by the Apple Car in 2024. (Image: Apple)
