The miniLED display, which Apple calls Liquid Retina XDR, is already available in the new 12.9-inch M1 iPad Pro. This panel uses 10,000 mini-LEDs that provide much better control over local backlighting, allowing for higher brightness and deeper blacks. The combination increases the contrast ratio and uses less power. According to the company, the Liquid Retina XDR display delivers "lifelike" details with a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio.

It also offers 1000 nits of brightness in full screen mode and 1600 nits of peak brightness. Although the new MacBook Pro is expected to come with the M1X chip and more slots, Gurman doesn't talk about that in his newsletter today. The MacBook Pro is for those who need more power and RAM for app development, Photoshop, and more complex video editing while the MacBook Air is ideal for web browsing, email, and basic photo editing. Just recently, it was claimed that the new MacBook Pro will be configurable with up to 64GB of RAM. Interestingly, the Bloomberg report was contradicted.
