Apple may be planning to introduce a new “Mac Studio” computer with an Apple Silicon chip alongside the new Mac mini and Mac Pro devices.
The so-called "Mac Studio" will be a device that will fit between the Mac mini and the Mac Pro. According to reports, the device will be largely based on the design of the Mac mini but will be equipped with "much more powerful hardware." Rumor has it that Apple has two versions of the "Mac Studio" device in development. One model will be equipped with the M1 Max chipset and another with an even more powerful Apple Silicon chip. Sources familiar with the matter explained opposite 9to5Mac says the device will represent a new category among Apple's existing desktop options without a built-in monitor, aimed at professional users. The name of the device is said to be not set in stone yet, however.
“Mac Studio”: When will Apple introduce the device?
Interestingly, among other things reportedthat Apple is also working on a new "Apple Studio Display" with a higher resolution than the current Pro Display XDR. If Apple keeps the branding, it suggests that the new "Mac Studio" will correspond to the display option in Apple marketing. The "Mac Studio" is said to be the same device that Bloomberg has already described as a smaller Mac Pro. The device could replace the current high-end Mac mini, which is currently sold by Apple with an Intel chip. In addition to the "Mac Studio" equipped with Apple Silicon, Apple is also reportedly working on a Mac Pro model with an Intel chip, which could be one of the last Apple products to feature the chip maker's silicon. It remains unclear when the "Mac Studio" will be unveiled. The product could possibly be announced as early as next week as part of the "Peek performance." event.
