Rumor has it that Apple will replace the current 13-inch MacBook Pro with M1 chip with a new 14-inch model with an improved chip in late 2022, which will also be slightly more expensive.
The new 14-inch MacBook Pro will be equipped with an M2 chip and will be released in the second half of 2022, as the well-known leaker DylanDKT now reported. In another tweet, DylanDKT added that the device will have the same design as the 14-inch model with M1 Pro and M1 Max. In addition to the new 14-inch MacBook Pro, Apple will also introduce a new MacBook Air equipped with the same M2 chip, according to the leaker. The 13-inch MacBook Pro with M1 was first introduced in November 2020. Along with the Mac mini and MacBook Air, it was one of the first Mac models to be equipped with an Apple Silicon chipset. Unlike the current M1 Max and M1 Pro models, the 13-inch device has a similar design to previous Intel devices.
In addition to a MacBook Pro with M2 chip, a new Air model is also expected
It remains unclear whether the new model will feature a wider range of ports like the current 14-inch MacBook Pro. However, given the consistent design, this is not out of the question. In early January, it was reported that a new MacBook Air model would be equipped with a "slightly faster" M2 chip. The M2 chip is expected to feature a 10-core graphics processor, although the number of CPUs or speed have not yet been revealed. DylanDKT reported on the "M2" MacBook Air in October, claiming it would have a more angular design like the M1 Pro and M1 Max models.
