Rumors surrounding the iPhone SE 4 have been documented several times in the past. Now another source claims that the entry-level iPhone will have almost exactly the same design as the iPhone XR.

In a video on his Front Page Tech YouTube channel said Jon Prosser that the fourth-generation iPhone SE will actually adopt the design of the iPhone XR from 2018. The change is plausible as the design of the first generation iPhone SE is based on the iPhone 5S from 2013 while the design of the second and third generation iPhone SE is based on the iPhone 8 from 2017. The latest information expands on Prosser's original claim from August. But he remains unclear about the device's internals and specs - though it's likely to use some older hardware to keep costs down. To show off the design of the fourth-generation iPhone SE, Apple concept designer Ian Zelbo has created renders that supposedly accurately depict the new device.

In October 2021, a report by the Chinese website MyDrivers explicitly stated that the iPhone SE will have an iPhone XR-like design - a claim that has since been confirmed by a number of other sources.

iPhone SE 4 with notch but without Face ID

Rumors of the fourth generation iPhone SE have been around since before the launch of the third generation earlier this year. Prosser's latest claim coincides with a recent Forecast of display analyst Ross Young, who said that the next-generation iPhone SE will have a 6.1-inch display with a "notch" at the top. In 2019, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said for the first time that Apple is working on an iPhone SE with a 6.1-inch LCD display. Since the iPhone XR had a 6.1-inch LCD display with a notch, the rumors about the design of the next generation of the iPhone SE seem to largely coincide. However, the device will appear without Face ID. Instead, it will use Touch ID in the side button, as the iPad Air already does. (Image: Ian Zelebo x Jon Prosser)
