According to well-informed analyst Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC), the iPhone SE 4 will have a 6.1-inch LCD display and a notch at the top of the screen.

As MacRumors reported, Ross Young told the US blog that he has revised his expectations for the fourth-generation iPhone SE. In October 2021, Young, who has a very good track record in Apple forecasting, stated that a new iPhone SE model with a 5.7- to 6.1-inch LCD display and a punch-hole cutout for the front camera will be released in 2024. In retrospect, this could even mean Apple's Dynamic Island. Be that as it may. Young's revised forecast states that the device will have a 6.1-inch display with a notch. Whether the iPhone SE's cutout will contain a TrueDepth camera field to enable Face ID, like other iPhone models, is unknown.

Some rumors suggest that the iPhone SE will not come with Face ID but will instead feature Touch ID like previous models to reduce costs. The move to an all-screen design will mean there will be no room for a capacitive Touch ID home button on the bottom bezel of the device. Several reports, including information from MyDrivers and Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, suggest that Apple plans to equip the iPhone SE with a Touch ID side button, similar to the iPad Air and iPad mini.

The size of the notch on the fourth-generation iPhone SE is not yet known. But it seems plausible that it could be narrower than on the iPhone XR if it doesn't include components like a dot projector for Face ID, since the device has Touch ID. Chinese website MyDrivers and leaker Jon Prosser believe that the iPhone SE will move to an iPhone XR-like design, which would mean the elimination of the home button. The change is likely because Apple's previous "SE" products have always used the design of older devices. (Photo by Unsplash / Sara Kurfeß)
