In a few days, the iPhone 13 series will officially go on sale. So while we wait for the new models, the rumor mill has already focused on the iPhone 14. However, there is also a new forecast for the 2023 and 2024 iPhone models.

Well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has explained Apple's future iPhone plans in more detail in a letter to investors. According to Kuo, the iPhone 14 will not have the Touch ID sensor under the display, as the analyst originally expected. According to his sources, this technology will not appear until 2023 at the earliest. So possibly in the so-called iPhone 15?!

We have revised our forecast and expect the launch of the under-display fingerprint iPhone and foldable iPhone to be delayed to 2H23 and 2024, respectively, due to slower than expected development progress. We believe this will impact iPhone shipments in 2022 and 2023.

Foldable iPhone could be released in 2024

It is not the first time that Kuo has reported that Apple is working on this technology. But now he makes it clear that Touch ID under the display will not be ready for the 2022 iPhone series. Interestingly, Mark Gurman also reported a few weeks ago that Apple had tested Touch ID under the display in an iPhone 13. However, the idea was quickly discarded. No reasons were given for this. But back to Ming-Chi Kuo. The analyst was one of the first to bring a foldable iPhone into play some time ago. In this regard, Kuo now explains that an iPhone with a folding mechanism in 2024 will be an important selling point in the high-end smartphone area. Accordingly, he currently assumes that a foldable iPhone could appear in 2024 at the earliest. It remains to be seen whether his forecast is supported by other analysts or even leakers.
