We know that Apple will release a new iPhone next year. But Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is usually better informed and can even provide more detailed information about the devices - as is the case here.
The renowned analyst has written to investors about Apples Plans in 2022, fueling speculation again. According to the report, the iPhone 14 will receive a huge camera upgrade in 2022. There is talk of 48 megapixels and no less. In addition, Kuo hinted that Apple's mixed reality headset will debut in the second quarter of next year. The analyst says that both Largan and Yujingguang are currently working with Apple to develop head-mounted display (HMD) lenses as well as a 48-megapixel camera. The former will be used in Apple's mixed reality headset, while the latter will likely find its way into the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max - assuming, of course, that Apple decides to use this naming convention.
iPhone 2022: Better suited for AR/MR devices
Both Largan and Yujingguang are expected to be involved in the production of the iPhone 13, with strong demand suggesting significant growth in 2021. Ming-Chi Kuo has already hinted that a 48-megapixel camera is in the works, with 8K video recordings to be made possible by the improved hardware. In the course of the first forecast explained he also explained the reason for this. Kuo noted at the time that in the future, watching iPhone-recorded videos on an 8K display or TV "will provide a better user experience." Since the best resolution for augmented and mixed reality is 8K to 16K, the 48-megapixel camera in the 2022 iPhone will create videos and images that are "better suited for AR/MR devices."
