With the iPhone 17, Apple is not only launching new hardware but also expanding its range of accessories. One new product in particular stands out: the Crossbody Strap. This strap features an unusual magnetic design and is set to be released alongside the launch of the iPhone 17 series. Initial details come from leaker Majin Bu, who has previously attracted attention with reliable information about Apple products.

Apple has pursued a clear line in accessories for years: high-quality, functional, and perfectly matched to its own devices. This strategy continues with the Crossbody Strap – this time with an accessory designed to make carrying the iPhone 17 significantly more comfortable. The design completely dispenses with conventional attachments like hooks or loops and relies instead on an innovative magnetic principle.

Magnetic system with flexible metal core

According to Majin Bu, the crossbody strap is based on a fully magnetic design. Inside the strap is a flexible metal core that is magnetic along its entire length. Oppositely polarized rings connect the strap at both ends. These magnetic rings provide the connection, eliminating the need for additional mechanical fasteners. This allows for quick attachment and removal of the strap – without complicated fastening systems.

Material: woven nylon and possibly silicone

The first known samples of the crossbody strap are made of woven nylon. This material is robust, lightweight, and very reminiscent of the Apple Watch's Sport Loop bands. There's a good indication that Apple is aiming for similar properties for the strap as it is for the Watch: breathable, durable, and comfortable to wear. A silicone version is also being discussed. This could be particularly interesting for users who prefer an easy-care and water-resistant material.

Accessories for more than just the iPhone 17

While the crossbody strap was primarily designed for the new iPhone 17 cases, it could also be compatible with other Apple products. The focus is on the upcoming AirPods Pro 3. While there's no official confirmation yet, the strap's design suggests it could be used for more than just the iPhone. If Apple were to take this step, the accessory would be versatile—even beyond smartphone use.

Production start and market availability

According to current information, serial production of the Crossbody Strap has already begun. This suggests that Apple will offer the strap directly at the launch of the iPhone 17. This would make the new accessory available from day one and could be used in conjunction with the new cases. This should be particularly interesting for users who frequently use their iPhone on the go and are looking for a practical carrying option.

The perfect addition to the iPhone 17 lineup?

The Crossbody Strap brings a sophisticated design to Apple's accessory line. With its magnetic design, potential compatibility with other devices like the AirPods Pro 3, and high-quality materials, it complements the iPhone 17 perfectly. For users who value functionality and a simple design, the new strap should be a practical addition to their everyday life. The fact that Apple is introducing the strap at the same time as the iPhone 17 series underscores the importance this accessory intends to have in the Apple ecosystem. (Image: MajinBu)
