Apple's iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max devices will have some new features, including a titanium frame, solid-state buttons with haptic feedback, and more RAM, according to tech analyst Jeff Pu.

In a research note for Hong Kong investment firm Haitong International Securities today, Pu outlined his expectations for the iPhone 15 lineup, which he said will include a 6.1-inch iPhone 15, a 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Plus, a 6.1-inch iPhone 15 Pro, and a 6.7-inch iPhone 15 Pro Max. He expects the Pro models to have a titanium frame and solid-state volume and power buttons with haptic feedback from two additional Taptic Engines. He also expects the Pro models to have 8GB of RAM, up from 6GB like the iPhone 14 Pro models. All three features have already been teased for the iPhone 15 Pro models by other sources such as leaker "ShrimpApplePro" and analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

iPhone 15 Pro Max to receive periscope technology

Pu said the iPhone 15 Pro models will be powered by an A17 Bionic chip manufactured using TSMC's 3nm process, while he expects the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus to feature the A16 Bionic chip and 6GB of RAM. All four models will come with a USB-C port and Qualcomm's Snapdragon X70 modem for 5G and LTE. As previously suspected, Pu expects the iPhone 15 Pro Max's telephoto lens to feature periscope technology to increase optical zoom. For the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, Pu expects a 48-megapixel rear camera like the iPhone 14 Pro models.

Announcement of new iPhones expected in September

Based on “recent supply chain reviews and views on the tech industry,” Pu remains cautious about the share prices of many companies in Apples supply chain. Pu believes Apple's product momentum has "gone weak" and he expects iPhone, Mac, Apple Watch, and AirPods shipments to decline year-over-year in 2023. Pu has a mixed track record when it comes to predicting Apple's plans. But much of the information he shared today about the iPhone 15 models has been rumored before. Apple is expected to announce its iPhone 15 lineup in September as usual. (Photo by hadrian / Bigstockphoto)

Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
