With the iPhone 15 series, Apple plans to use a USB-C port instead of the Lightning port to comply with regulatory changes introduced in Europe.
There have already been numerous rumors about the USB-C port. But now a first picture of the iPhone 15 Pro case with USB-C port has been released MacRumors and later by the leaker Unknownz21 shared on Twitter. It's not hard to imagine what a USB-C port on an iPhone looks like as a replacement for a Lightning port, as Apple already uses USB-C ports on iPads and Macs. Still, it's always interesting to take a look at leaked components. The image not only confirms a USB-C port for the iPhone 15 Pro but also offers a first look at the changed curves that are suspected for the device.
The design improvements are limited to the iPhone 15 Pro models
Apple is expected to add a deeper curve to the iPhone 15 Pro's body, as seen in the leaked image. It is also rumored that the company will switch from stainless steel to titanium. The brushed metal of the device actually looks like titanium.
With the switch to USB-C, Apple plans to replace the E75 Lightning Controller with the E85 Port Controller, according to Unknownz21. Note that while the iPhone 15 Pro is shown with a USB-C port, the port update applies to the entire iPhone 15 range, including the regular iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, as well as the iPhone 15 Pro Max.
