The rumors that the iPhone 12 will get a promotional display continue to be contradictory. Now a well-known display analyst has spoken out.

It is repeatedly claimed that the iPhone 12 Pro models could have a ProMotion display. But display analyst Ross Young has once again contradicted this. According to him, Apple will not give this year's lineup screens with a refresh rate of 120 Hz - the energy-saving LTPO display technology is required for this. Young saw the reason for the new report in a rumor that was recently spread by leaker @UniverseIce – who otherwise has a very solid success rate in this area. On Twitter Young explained that none of his contacts were able to confirm rumors about a ProMotion display in the iPhone 12 series. Instead, they explained that the 120 Hz technology will not be installed until 2021.

Clues discovered in iOS 14 code

According to this, Young is sticking to his prediction and stresses that the rumors are not true. Without the energy-saving LTPO display technology, the battery would quickly become undesirably discharged, which is why Apple will not implement the feature. At this point, it should be mentioned that the iPad Pro uses a ProMotion display but without LTPO technology. But the device works very efficiently and switches automatically between modes to save battery life. In addition, hints in the iOS 14 code have revealed that users can switch between 60 and 120 Hz themselves. But such a snippet of code does not necessarily mean that the function will necessarily be integrated. Often, references to functions are discovered that are later removed from the code. Given that the rumors surrounding ProMotion displays are so varied, the whole thing should be viewed with great skepticism. AirPods Pro on special offer at Amazon – now available for 219 eurosdaily.
