Apple introduced four new iPhone models in October 2020 – the iPhone 12 series. Now there are reports that production of the mini version could be discontinued.
In recent weeks, there have been repeated reports that the iPhone 12 mini is not particularly popular. Now AppleInsider has published a report according to which William Yang of JP Morgan claims that Apple's supply chain could stop production of the iPhone 12 mini in the next quarter. is called it in the article:
In a note to investors obtained by AppleInsider, William Yang, supply chain analyst at JP Morgan, revised some of his forecasts for the current iPhone 12 lineup and the next iPhone lineup, which is expected in the second half of 2021.
iPhone 12 mini: A slow seller?
According to the report, Yang believes Apple will produce a much higher percentage of iPhone 12 Pro Max and iPhone 12 Pro devices, as well as the iPhone 11, than previously expected. Yang revised the numbers to 11 million, 2 million, and 8 million units, respectively. However, Yang lowered expectations for iPhone 12 and 12 mini production by 9 million and 11 million units.
Yang notes that given the seemingly weak demand for the iPhone 12 mini, the supply chain could halt production in the second quarter of 2021.
