Well-known TF International Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has released a new cost estimate for the iPhone 12 series.

Many fans fear that the introduction of 5G will result in significantly higher iPhone prices. But one analyst gives the all-clear. In the latest report, Ming-Chi Kuo explains that each unit of sub-6GHz 5G technology costs around $75, while mmWave technology costs around $125. But the analyst assumes that Apple will not add the overall higher costs to the selling price of the iPhone 12. This means that Apple is trying to offset the costs of 5G components by cutting costs elsewhere on the phone. Savings can primarily be made in the battery and circuit boards. According to the analyst, however, the user experience should not suffer. In addition, the Cupertino-based company is exercising its corporation also puts aggressive price pressure on its suppliers in order to get the best deals on components. There are also plans to make major savings in the accessories sector. As was reported a few weeks ago, the iPhone 12 series will most likely only be delivered with a charging cable.

iPhone 12: Apple wants to keep iPhone prices stable

The charging adapter and the EarPods are no longer included with the device. Accordingly, Apple seems to be interested in keeping the current iPhone prices relatively stable. This means that a significant price increase due to 5G is not to be expected. As a reminder: Many manufacturers of Android devices have had to increase their sales prices significantly with the introduction of 5G. Contrary to rumors, Apple does not seem to be interested in this. The iPhone 12 series will consist of four devices in three sizes. While a 5.4- and 6.1-inch device will enter the race as a cheap successor to the iPhone 11, another 6.1- and 6.7-inch device will be presented as Pro versions. Due to delays, the new generation of devices will not debut at the same time. Rumors suggest that the normal versions will appear in October while the Pro versions will be available in November.
