A number of new Apple products are expected this year. The iPhone 14, for example, could be introduced with a hole-punch display.

In the latest output In his newsletter "Power On," Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reiterates his expectations for new Apple products this year. Gurman believes that at least the iPhone 14 Pro models, which will be released in the fall, will have a "hole-punch" display, as we have already heard from other sources such as analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The hole design refers to a display with a small circular cutout for the front camera, as seen on some Samsung smartphones. This design would eliminate the familiar notch and the Face ID system would likely be relocated under the display.

Mac Pro with Apple Silicon?

In addition, Apple plans to introduce a completely redesigned MacBook Air with the new M2 chip. The processor will be only "slightly faster" than its predecessor, according to Gurman. He expects the M2 chip, like the M1 chip, to have an 8-core CPU and a 9- or 10-core GPU, which would be an upgrade over the 7- or 8-core GPUs in the current MacBook Air. Gurman also expects a smaller Apple Silicon version of the Mac Pro with a 40-core CPU and 128-core GPU to be introduced this year, as well as a new Mac mini and a new, larger iMac. 2022 is likely to be the year Apple completes the transition from Intel processors to its own chips in Macs.

Apple AR/VR headset could be the highlight

When Apple announced its plans in June 2020, the company said the transition would take about two years. In addition, he is convinced that Apple will introduce a new external monitor later this year that will be half the price of the Pro Display XDR, which is currently available from 5,499 euros. But that's not all. The highlight of the product launches could be the brand new AR/VR headset, which Gurman says could be announced at WWDC 2022 - but this is not certain. In addition to the products mentioned above, the iPhone SE 3, a new iPad Pro with support for wireless charging and a rugged version of the Apple Watch are also planned.
