A number of new Apple products are expected this year. The iPhone 14, for example, could be introduced with a hole-punch display.
In the latest Output In his newsletter "Power On," Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reiterates his expectations for new Apple products this year. Gurman believes that at least the iPhone 14 Pro models, which will be released this fall, will have a "hole-punch" display, as we've heard from other sources such as analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The hole-punch design refers to a display with a small circular cutout for the front-facing camera, as seen on some Samsung smartphones. This design would eliminate the familiar notch and likely relocate the Face ID system below the display.
Mac Pro with Apple Silicon?
Apple also plans to introduce a completely redesigned MacBook Air with the new M2 chip. According to Gurman, the processor will be only "marginally faster" than its predecessor. He expects the M2 chip, like the M1 chip, to have an 8-core CPU and a 9- or 10-core GPU, which would be an upgrade over the 7- or 8-core GPUs in the current MacBook Air. Gurman also expects a smaller Apple Silicon version of the Mac Pro with a 40-core CPU and a 128-core GPU to be introduced this year, as well as a new Mac mini and a new, larger iMac. 2022 is likely to be the year Apple completes the transition from Intel processors to its own chips in Macs.
Apple AR/VR headset could be the highlight
