There has been speculation about the fate of the iPhone SE for a long time. Will it get a successor or will Apple finally bury it?
The first rumors suggested that the iPhone SE 2 with the latest technology in the old casing. Then there were more and more reports that there would be a new design - namely with a notch in the display and no home button. And now? Apple is said to have completely changed its plans.
If analysts John Donovan and Steve Mullane from BlueFin Research have their way, Apple will finally bury the compact 4-inch device in September. Instead, Apple will focus on the three new iPhones - the iPhone X2, iPhone X Plus and a 6.1-inch LCD model. Over 91 million units are expected to be sold at launch. A further 92 million devices are expected to cover the first two quarters of 2019. In addition, the iPhone 7 is expected to be the cheapest device in the range. The two analysts claim to have learned this from Apple's supply chain.
Either way, it will remain exciting until autumn – then we will hopefully have certainty.
