Apple's long-discussed Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) headset could be released in less than a year, as rumors are mounting.
Apple's headset, which is said to offer both AR and VR features with applications for gaming, media and communication, could be in customers' hands sooner rather than later, according to recent reports. While an exact date is not yet known, the rough timeframe is becoming increasingly clear. Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently said that Apple's headset will be released in the fourth quarter of 2022. Originally, Kuo stated that the device should be released in the second quarter of 2022. But after a series of delays in starting mass production, the fourth quarter seems to be the timeframe that Apple is now targeting. As a reminder, the fourth quarter of 2022 runs from October 1 to December 31, meaning an announcement could be less than 10 months away.

There's also a possibility that Apple will offer a first look at the headset at the next WWDC in June, giving developers enough time to prepare apps for the headset. But that's not all. Analysts at Morgan Stanley believe the project is now "close to launch," which is in line with the development timeline for the Apple Watch before its launch. The headset is expected to feature a lightweight design, two 4K micro-LED displays, 15 optical modules, two main processors, Wi-Fi 6E connectivity, eye tracking, a transparent AR mode, object tracking, and hand gesture control. The exact price of the device is still unclear, but some reports suggest it could cost around $3,000. So, 2022 could be a particularly exciting year for Apple—we'll see what happens.
