Apple is rumored to be working on a virtual reality headset that will be released as early as next year. Now there's a report that offers details on the specifications and possible price.

What will Apple's VR headset be able to do and how much will it cost? These questions have now been addressed in a new article published by The Information published The platform claims to have learned some details about the range of functions from a source familiar with the matter. It is claimed that the headset will be equipped with more than a dozen cameras for tracking hand movements, along with two ultra-high-resolution 8K displays and advanced eye-tracking technology. The cameras would be able to pass videos of the real world through the visor and display them to the user, creating a "mixed reality effect". The Information claims to have seen internal Apple images of a "late prototype" of the headset from last year, showing a slim, curved visor attached to the face with a mesh material and interchangeable headbands.

This is how much the Apple VR headset could cost

In terms of control, there are said to be several options that Apple is currently testing. One of these is a "thimble-like device worn on a person's finger". The headset would also react to the wearer's eye movements and hand gestures, according to the report. However, there are also prototypes that have been equipped with a rotary knob similar to the Digital Crown. In terms of price, Apple is said to have discussed around $3,000 internally for the VR headset. However, the amount has not yet been decided. However, this would be in the same range as Microsoft's mixed reality headset HoloLens 2, which is available in stores for $3,500. Such a price would certainly make Apple's headset a high-end niche product. But the company remains modest. The goal is to sell around 250,000 units in the first year.
