The new streaming service Apple TV+ was launched on November 1, 2019 and focuses on original content - Apple Originals. But for many users, the selection is simply too small. Now the turning point could be coming.

Apple wants to produce as much of TV+ as possible itself. Series like “See” and “The Morning Show” could hardly be more popular. But the selection is simply too small compared to Netflix and Co. Now there are reports that Apple wants to supplement its own content with films and series from third parties. Bloomberg writes in the latest report:

10 million subscribers – but not all active

Apple Inc. is acquiring older movies and shows for its TV+ streaming service, with the goal of building a catalog of content that can better compete with the massive libraries on Netflix, Hulu and Disney+.

The company's video programming staff have accepted pitches from Hollywood studios about licensing older content for TV+ and have purchased some shows and movies, according to people familiar with the matter.

According to the report, Apple is planning a change in strategy with regard to TV+, if Bloomberg is actually right with the report. This means that in addition to Apple Originals, we will soon be able to stream series and films from other providers on Apple TV+. According to the report, however, no franchises or blockbusters have been acquired yet. So what will happen next remains exciting. Bloomberg also noted that Apple TV+ currently has 10 million subscribers, but only half of them actively use the service. (Image: Apple)
