The future of Apple TV+ is being closely followed by many fans and market observers. Now there is a new report that sheds more light on Apple's plans in this regard.

Apple TV+ currently only has original content, which can be accessed for around €4.99 per month. However, some users find the selection too limited. Now Bloomberg is reporting that Apple's video streaming service could receive augmented reality content. According to Gurman, the new feature will display aspects of scenes in a TV show - for example characters or objects - on the iPhone or iPad. To be precise, these will be placed in the real environment with the help of augmented reality. This is what the Article:

AR function was originally planned for 2020

For example, someone watching a moon scene on Apple's show "For All Mankind" might see a virtual lunar rover appearing on their living room table on their device's display. The option would serve as bonus content, similar to the director's commentary or trailer that accompanies a movie download and could be accessed via Apple's TV app on the iPhone or iPad.

The AR feature is expected to debut next year, ahead of an Apple headset in 2022 that will be built on augmented and virtual reality, said the people, who asked not to be identified because they were not authorized to discuss the plan publicly.

According to Gurman's sources, the company wanted to release the feature this year. But as with many other projects, the global COVID-19 pandemic got in the way. But at the same time, it was claimed that this new AR function could also be scrapped. However, no reason was given. So it remains unclear whether and when the feature will actually be released.
