Apple is working on at least three augmented reality and virtual reality headsets, the first of which will likely be called “Apple Reality Pro.”

In the latest edition of his “Power On” newsletter explained Mark Gurman said that to his knowledge, there are at least three Apple headsets in development, codenamed "N301," "N602," and "N421." The first of these devices, N301, will be called "Apple Reality Pro," according to Gurman. Apple Reality Pro is said to be the "high-end competitor" to Meta's upcoming Quest Pro headset. N602 is reportedly the successor to the first Apple Reality Pro headset and may be offered at a lower price. N421 is Apple's augmented reality glasses, which have long been speculated about, although Gurman pointed out that they may not be released for some time.

Apple Reality Pro could cost around $3,000

Gurman's latest report is the first concrete hint at what Apple's first headset product might be called. Interestingly, the name "Reality Pro" matches Apple's recent trademark filings. Last week, Bloomberg reportedthat Apple has filed to trademark several terms associated with the upcoming headset devices, including "Reality Processor," "Reality Pro," and "Reality One." According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple plans to unveil its first headset as early as January next year. Possible features include two 4K micro-OLED displays, 15 optical modules, two main processors, WiFi 6E connectivity, eye tracking, object tracking, and hand gesture control. The approximate price of the device is still unclear, but some reports suggest that the first product could cost around $3,000. (Photo by Andrey Suslov / Bigstockphoto)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
