With the upcoming release of iOS 18 and other major operating system updates this fall, many users are excited about the new features that Apple Intelligence will bring. But not all features will be available immediately. Below, you'll learn what exciting Apple Intelligence features you can expect, when they'll be introduced, and how Apple plans to roll them out over the coming years.

Apple unveiled a host of new features and improvements in the field of artificial intelligence during this year's WWDC keynote. These developments are intended to significantly improve the user experience, from prioritizing notifications to transcribing voice recordings. But as with many major software updates, the rollout will be staggered to ensure quality and overcome technical challenges, according to Bloomberg.

Apple Intelligence launches in fall 2024

iOS 18 will be officially released in fall 2024. At that time, some of the most important new Apple Intelligence features will be available, but still marked as "preview" and in English only. Here are the first features you can expect:

  • Notification prioritization: This feature helps you highlight important messages and filter out unimportant ones.
  • Summarize long texts: Read long emails and web pages faster by having summaries automatically generated.
  • Genmoji image generation and writing enhancement tools: Improve your writing with tools similar to Grammarly and create personalized emojis.
  • Advanced transcription features: The transcription services already available in the Podcasts app are extended to other voice recordings and voicemails.
  • Math problem solving: Automatically solve math problems noted in notes and documents.

Additional features in 2024

After the initial release, Apple will introduce additional features throughout 2024. These include:

  • Redesign of the Mail app: Emails are automatically grouped by type, making them easier to manage.
  • Additional features in the Home app: New features for home automation and spatial video editing.
  • Apple Vision Pro Extensions: Improved features for using Apple Vision Pro.
  • Swift Assist: A tool to help developers write code.

Looking to the Future: 2025

Some of the most significant new features will not be available until 2025. These include a major overhaul of Siri:

  • Improved Siri features: Context-sensitive responses and the ability to enhance photos and send messages will not be fully integrated until early 2025.
  • Private Compute Cloud: Apple is expanding its server capacity to support and scale the new AI features.
  • Partnerships with AI providers: Apple is working with OpenAI and other companies to accelerate the launch of new features and improve the quality.

Apple Intelligence: Quality over quantity

The introduction of Apple Intelligence brings a variety of exciting new features that will significantly improve the user experience. Although not all features will be available immediately, Apple's staggered rollout shows that quality and user satisfaction are top priorities. Stay tuned for the upcoming updates and look forward to the innovative possibilities that Apple Intelligence brings. (Image: Apple)
