Apple has been running a trade-in program for some time, whereby old iPhone devices, iPads or Apple Watch models are purchased when a new device is bought. The program is now reportedly to be extended to Mac models.

A new Bloomberg According to a report, Apple is planning to add Mac devices to its trade-in program. This means that old Macs will be purchased when customers intend to buy a new model - or they can choose a voucher. According to the report, this new addition to the trade-in program will be introduced in the USA on June 15, while it will start in Canada on June 18. According to the article:

Apple trade-in program is often criticized

The Cupertino, California-based tech giant informed retail employees that the new program will begin June 15 in the U.S. and June 18 in Canada, according to people familiar with the matter. Customers can trade in a Mac for a credit toward a new computer or transfer the trade-in value to an Apple gift card.

Bloomberg goes on to point out that around 200 stores are closed, which is why the program will only really start later. Whether customers will actually take advantage of the whole thing remains to be seen, of course. After all, Apple's trade-in program is repeatedly criticized because the prices are significantly below market value. Whether and when the Mac division will also be included in the program in this country is currently unknown. (Photo by hadrian / Bigstockphoto)
