Apple launched the iPhone SE in early 2020 updated and presented a device in the iPhone 8 design and with an A13 chip. Now the question is being discussed whether an update can be expected next year.
Until now, rumors had suggested that Apple would introduce a new iPhone SE or a Plus version in early 2021. The latter appeared for a time in the code of an early iOS 14 build. Now, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has spoken out again on the topic and corrected an earlier statement. According to his current information, Apple will not introduce a new iPhone SE model in the first half of 2021. According to Kuo, anything new is not expected until the second half of the year at the earliest. Kuo's latest investor note actually refers to supplier Yujingguang, better known as Genius Electronic Optical. He warns that some are "overestimating" the company's "revenue and gross margin." The letter states:

We believe Genius Electronic Optical's October revenue [will turn out to be] lower than the market consensus because competition has increased. We expect this competition to intensify in 2021. The market expects a new iPhone SE to be launched [in the first half of 2021], which will increase Genius Electronic Optical's shipment momentum. But we do not believe 1H21 will see a new iPhone SE.
Whether the future model will actually be a Plus model in the look of the 8 Plus remains to be seen. As already mentioned above, there have been several rumors on the subject. The Note in the iOS 14 code fueled the whole thing. But in the end, Apple could change its mind. For this reason, the topic should be viewed with skepticism.
