It's now official. Apple has announced WWDC 2021. This is the second year in a row that Apple will hold a virtual Worldwide Developers Conference due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During WWDC 2021, Apple will likely unveil the future of its software platforms, including iOS 15, iPadOS 15, macOS 12, watchOS 8, and tvOS 15. The event will be free for all developers. Apple today announced that its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will be held in an online-only format from June 7-11. Free to all developers, WWDC21 will offer unique insights into the future of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS. Building on the record-breaking participation and insights from last year's online conference, WWDC21 will provide developers with the opportunity to learn about the new technologies, tools, and frameworks they need to develop innovative and cross-platform apps and games.

Last year, the all-virtual WWDC was widely praised for making the conference more inclusive for everyone, especially given the costs typically associated with traveling to San Jose, California for the conference. Tim Cook highlighted that WWDC 2020 attracted 22 million viewers across all Apple streams. Apple was able to compile 72 hours of video content for developers and host 4,500 person-to-person labs. Apple states that WWDC 2021 will "offer unique insights into the future of iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS." Susan Prescott, Apple's vice president of developer relations, added in the press release:
We love bringing our developers together each year at WWDC to learn about our latest technologies and connect them with Apple engineers.
