Virtualization specialist Parallels has now confirmed plans to bring the recently released Windows 11 to the Mac. It remains unclear when compatibility with the new Microsoft operating system will be made available.

Parallels announced in a statement did not give an estimated timeframe for the launch to iMore, but said only that they "will certainly do everything possible to make it happen." Nick Dobrovolskiy, Parallels' SVP of Engineering and Support, explained:

Since Windows 11 was only recently announced, the Parallels Engineering Team is waiting for the official Windows 11 Insider Preview build to start investigating the changes in the new operating system to ensure full compatibility in future Parallels Desktop updates.

Parallels develops tweaks for macOS Monterey

Windows 11 was unveiled last week with a fresh user interface, new multitasking options, Android app support, Microsoft Teams integration, and more. Parallels last updated its Parallels Desktop virtualization software in April with support for Apple's M1 chip. The suite is optimized for macOS Big Sur, with Parallels already developing tweaks for the upcoming macOS Monterey. For now, users can rely on Apple's Boot Camp to run both native and virtualized instances of Windows on Intel Macs. That will change once Apple transitions its laptop and desktop lines to Apple Silicon, leaving third-party virtualization solutions as the only option in the near future. Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
