Apple's "Where is?" app was completely redesigned last year. Now, more useful functions are to be added.

The wave of leaks surrounding iOS 14 is moving into the next round. The US blog 9to5mac is now reporting on new features within the "Where is?" app. According to the report, there will be an augmented reality mode and new notification functions, among other things.

Notification features in Find My on iOS 14

According to the iOS 14 code, the "Find My" app will receive a notification function - location alarms. These are activated when devices do not arrive at certain locations at certain times of the day. Currently, it is possible to receive a notification when leaving or arriving. This will expand the existing notification function. But that's not all. It should also be possible to receive a notification when a person leaves a certain location too early. For example, parents could check whether their children leave a friend or school early.

The augmented reality mode

In addition to the new notification functions, there will also be an AR mode, which will also be supported by Apple's as yet unreleased AR glasses. This should help with finding certain locations, including Apple's upcoming AirTags. It is also said that ARKit, Apple's augmented reality developer framework, will also include an interface for an AR headset. But here's the thing: Since the clues were discovered in an Apple internal iOS 14 version, it could of course also be the case that the functions will not be integrated from the start. The presentation of the new operating systems is expected as part of a digital WWDC in June. Here you can find all iOS 14 Leaks at a Glance. (Photo by Kaspars Grinvalds / Bigstockphoto)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
