Apple CEO Tim Cook has penned an open letter for the first issue of Login, a new magazine published by Italy's Corriere della Sera. In the letter, Cook reflects on Apple's commitment to innovation, humanity, the environment, and more.

Cook believes that the world is currently experiencing a pivotal moment in history and that technology will have a major impact on the future. writes he:

As the world recovers from a pandemic that has taken so much from us over the past two years, we have a unique opportunity to shape the future we want to live in. The decisions we make today about how we rebuild the world and where we focus our resources will leave their mark for decades to come. And while technology will clearly have a major impact on the future we create, it's important to remember that technology is not inherently good or bad. Its influence will depend on the values and intentions we put at the heart of our innovations.

Tim Cook: “Everyone has the potential to be innovative”

Cook called on “innovators” from across Italy to join Apple in using technology to change the world for the better:

We believe that everyone has the potential to innovate when they have access to the right tools, especially in a vibrant country like Italy, full of passion and creativity. And we want to help more and more people tap into that potential. To that end, we've partnered with the University of Naples Federico II to create the Apple Developer Academy, which gives aspiring developers and entrepreneurs the coding skills they need to bring their ideas to life.

The letter reiterates many of Apple's usual arguments, including the belief that privacy is a fundamental human right and that the company is committed to fighting climate change. In 2020, Apple unveiled a plan to make its entire company, supply chain and product lifecycle carbon neutral by 2030. (Photo by DFree / Bigstockphoto)

Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
