More than 600 days have passed since Apple last updated the iPad Air, and fans of the brand are eagerly awaiting the announcement of the next generation of this popular tablet. In March 2022, Apple launched the current iPad Air, which comes with impressive features such as the powerful M1 chip and 5G connectivity. But what will 2024 bring for the iPad Air? In this article, we take a look at the rumors and expectations for the upcoming sixth-generation iPad Air.

Apple is known for its innovations and regular product updates. The iPad Air is no exception, and the next version will undoubtedly exceed users' expectations. Below, we'll highlight some of the expected features of the upcoming iPad Air, including display size, processor performance, and connectivity options.

A 12.9″ model?

According to respected supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple plans to launch two new iPad Air models in 2024. These models will be available in 10.9-inch and 12.9-inch sizes, a first for the iPad Air line. Reports suggest that the 12.9-inch model will have an "oxide" back that is designed to improve display performance compared to the current iPad Air. Although there will be no major changes to the exterior design, users can look forward to the benefits of a larger display.

iPad Air with M2 chip

Another important aspect of the upcoming iPad Air is the processor. Apple is expected to equip the tablet with the high-performance M2 chip. This chip will significantly increase performance and energy efficiency compared to the current M1 chip. Back in October 2022, Apple updated the iPad Pro with the M2 chip, which achieved impressive results. So users can hope that the upcoming iPad Air will offer similar performance improvements.

WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3

Connectivity is another area where the iPad Air is expected to score points. The next models are expected to support WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3. With WiFi 6E, users can benefit from faster WiFi speeds, provided they use a compatible router. In addition, Bluetooth 5.3 promises improved connectivity to other devices and accessories.

iPad Air: Time of market launch

According to Ming-Chi Kuo, mass production of the new iPad Air models will begin in the first quarter of 2024. This suggests that the products will be launched sometime in the first half of 2024. Traditionally, Apple announces new products in March, and the annual developer conference WWDC in June could also provide a platform for the launch of the new iPad Air.
