After the guys from iFixit already tested the new iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro as well as the Apple Watch Series 5 disassembled, now comes the new iPad 7.

The iPad 7 is the direct successor to the 9.7-inch model released in 2018. The tablet has a 10.2-inch display and includes a Smart Connector for the first time. The device also supports the first generation Apple Pencil. As expected, it uses Touch ID. The casing is made of 100 percent recycled aluminum. But what does the smart entry-level iPad look like on the inside? The professional tinkerers from iFixitWhile the battery has remained the same at 8,227 mAh, the RAM has been increased from 2GB to a full 3GB. The heart of the device remained unchanged during the update - the 10.2-inch iPad is still powered by an A10 Fusion chip. Due to the minor changes, the device is largely similar to its predecessor - the same amount of glue was also used - emphasized iFixit. Only the display has now been optimized, which would make repairs easier.

Apple no longer seems to connect the cover glass directly to the display, but rather fixes it separately. Overall, iFixit gives the new iPad 7 two out of ten possible points in terms of ease of repair. The new iPad 7 starts at 379 euros and can cost up to 619 euros depending on the model. The device is available in silver, space gray and gold and can be purchased with 32 GB or 128 GB. There is of course a WiFi and WiFi+Cellular version. (Photo by tashka2000 / Bigstockphoto)

Milan founded Apfelpatient in 2016 and has been responsible for all editorial content since 2018 — news, rumors, guides, and product reviews. Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
