Last year, Spotify updated the UI of its iOS and Android app home screen. Now, new features have been added.

Based on the new design, Spotify today announced new features to be added to the home screen, including personalized recommendations, Recently Played, and new and unfinished podcasts. In the new blog post, the company describes the changes as follows:

With the latest update, we're rolling out several improvements to the mobile home screen designed to make finding the audio you love easier and more intuitive, rolling out globally on iOS and Android later this month.

Spotify: Latest version of the app is recommended

  • Go back in time: Discover lost gems in your listening history with a new Recently Played destination, where users can go back in time and browse up to three months of listening history. Premium and Free users worldwide can also browse individual songs and episodes in addition to the playlists, albums and shows they were played from.
  • Jump into new and unfinished podcasts: Global Premium users can watch new and relevant podcast episodes right from the home screen. New episodes are marked with a blue dot, and episodes you've already started will show a progress bar showing how far you are into the episode.
  • Discover more music: Premium users around the world never miss a single track from artists they love. You'll now see a new, highlighted interface above the home screen dedicated to discovery-focused recommendations that are personalized, timely and responsive to your tastes.

While Spotify describes the changes in detail, it remains unclear when exactly the changes will be available. The company only states that the new features will be rolled out by the end of the month. It is not known whether this is a server-side change. However, it is recommended to run the latest version of the app. Spotify was last updated on March 19. Apple devices here are not test units on loan for two weeks but everyday tools: from the iPhone through MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, and iMac to the Apple Vision Pro, at least one device from nearly every product category is in daily use, many of them replaced annually. Every menu path in a guide is verified on the device before it is published.
