Shortly after the season three finale, Apple TV announced the date for the conclusion: The fourth and final season of "Silo" will begin on July 9, 2027. A first look at the series finale was also provided. This leaves a gap of just over ten months between the finale and the new season.

The third season ended today with its tenth episode, and Apple TV used the occasion to make an announcement. The streaming service has set the premiere date for the fourth season for July 9, 2027, confirming once again that the series will end at that point.

What's new is primarily the precision. At the end of July, Apple TV only mentioned summer 2027 as the timeframe, without specifying a month or day. At the time, we expected a concrete date to be provided later in the spring – Apple TV was about ten months ahead of schedule.

Key Facts at a Glance

  • The fourth season starts on July 9, 2027 on Apple TV.
  • It is also the last one and concludes the plot.
  • There are 308 days between the finale of the third season and the reboot.
  • A first excerpt from the final season has already been released.
  • All three previous seasons are still available to catch up on.

What Apple TV has announced

The announcement mentions three points: the release date, confirmation that it will be the final season, and a first glimpse of the upcoming episodes. The series is produced by Apple Studios and developed by Graham Yost.

Rebecca Ferguson returns in the lead role and also serves as an executive producer. The series is based on the novel trilogy by Hugh Howey, which provides the material for all four seasons.

Ten months break until graduation

There are 308 days between the season finale on September 4, 2026, and the reboot on July 9, 2027. Compared to previous seasons, this is a significantly shorter interval: roughly one and a half years passed between the second and third seasons.

The reason lies in the production schedule. Apple TV had already confirmed the completion of filming for the fourth season in March 2026, months before the start of the third. What's still missing is post-production, not camera work.

What the third season was about

The third season unfolds on two timelines. In the present, Juliette Nichols survives her forced purification but returns with memory gaps, while the silo recovers from the rebellion and faces a new threat.

In a parallel storyline set centuries earlier, journalist Helen Drew and Congressman Daniel Keene stumble upon a conspiracy that triggers a chain of events with irreversible consequences. This backstory was the central narrative device of the season, which aired weekly in ten episodes starting July 3rd.

Why the date is set so early

A start date set ten months in advance is impossible for a series without any filmed material. That's precisely the situation here: the filming has been completed since spring; only post-production is needed.

The placement in the calendar is striking. The third season started on July 3rd, the fourth on July 9th. Apple TV is thus placing the series finale in the same summer window in which the show last aired, instead of in the more competitive fall season.

There are 308 days until the series finale. Will you rewatch season three during this time to have all the loose ends ready for the conclusion – or will you jump straight into the final episodes in July? Let us know in the comments how you're passing the time.
