Samsung today announced the launch of its latest flagship smartphones: the 6.1-inch Galaxy S23, 6.6-inch Galaxy S23+ and 6.8-inch Galaxy S23 Ultra.

All three devices have AMOLED displays with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. The Ultra has an edge-to-edge display similar to that of the previous generation. The Galaxy S23 Ultra is equipped with a new 200-megapixel wide-angle camera while the other two models use 50-megapixel cameras. In addition, has Each device has a 10-megapixel zoom camera, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 12-megapixel selfie camera on the front. At 200 megapixels, the S23 Ultra surpasses the 48-megapixel camera in Apple's iPhone 14 Pro models and supports 8K video recording. Like the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the S23 Ultra also has 10x optical zoom thanks to periscope lens technology that Apple is rumored to introduce with the iPhone 15 series.

Samsung Galaxy S23 series: Night photography has been improved

Samsung says the Ultra's camera is capable of handling "almost all lighting conditions" and is designed to deliver "incredible detail." Night photography has been improved to produce sharper images and videos with less noise in low-light conditions. There's a new image signal processing algorithm that improves colors and details. The device's selfie camera has fast autofocus and is what Samsung calls a "super HDR selfie camera" that captures video at 60 frames per second. Other camera features include dual optical image stabilization, 360-degree audio recording, and object-based AI that analyzes every detail in an image to "accurately reflect a person's dynamic characteristics."

Up to 1 TB of storage is available and the S23 Ultra's battery has a capacity of 5,000 mAh. Other features of the Galaxy S23 Ultra include IP68 water resistance, Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for the display, an included S Pen, WiFi 6E support, a fingerprint sensor and facial recognition. The smartphones use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform, which means they are compatible with the satellite connectivity that Qualcomm announced last year. This year, Phantom Black, Cream, Green and Lavender colors are available. Pre-orders can be placed on the Samsung website, with Samsung offering free storage upgrades and bonus credits that can be redeemed on subsequent purchases. Prices for the S23 Ultra start at $1,200, the S23+ at $1,000 and the S23 at $800. (Image: Samsung)
