Project Titan: New patent for the iCar

A patent application granted by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office by Apple shows how the iGroup has adapted the sunroof mechanism for iCar – the vehicle seats should also be able to provide haptic feedback.

A clearer picture of how Apple envisions its iCar of the future is slowly emerging. If the driver does not keep to the speed limit, for example, the seat should react with a vibration. The haptic feedback can also be used for notifications.

Intelligent sensors

In addition, the system will be able to adapt the seats to the occupants using special sensors, even in dangerous situations. Height, age and weight are taken into account, but the direction of view is also taken into account. This would enable safety systems to offer better protection. In addition to the seats of the future, Apple is also protecting a special technology that covers moving components such as sunroofs.

What is Project Titan?

Initially, little was known about Project Titan. The development and construction of entire cars was considered to be Apple's original goal. As research progressed, this is said to have changed and the focus was placed on software development for autonomous driving. This was then to be incorporated into models from other manufacturers. The project itself was first documented in 2015. Now, however, Apple seems to be reviving its old plans for its own car. Analysts assume that the iGroup could possibly present the iCar in 2025 or later.
